April 2020 Update

These last two months have certainly been one of the stranger times in most of our lives as the COVID-19 pandemic response continues on. I hope that you and your family have remained safe throughout this period. Please follow the public health guidelines if you have been exposed to COVID-19.

Far too many of our friends and neighbours have been laid off and their families are struggling. I worry about many of the small businesses that have closed temporarily but will struggle to re-open.

I want to thank all of the workers who are out there keeping people healthy and keeping the economy moving. We are grateful for your sacrifices.

The federal government has introduced a variety of economic support programs targeted towards individuals and businesses. You can go to Canada.ca to research which of those programs may apply to you. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call or email my office. We will do our best to find the programs that serve your needs or answer any questions you may have about what is available for help.

We have also found that some people are sadly not covered under some of the conditions that the Liberal government has setup. We are doing our best to collect those stories and make sure that the government is aware of the program gaps and do what we can to help close those gaps. If this is you or someone you know, please email me, we will do our best to help.

I was in Parliament this week and asked several questions of the Liberal government, all of which came from the phone calls and emails that I’m receiving from constituents. I’ve embedded two of them below but there are more on my YouTube site.

This has also been a very stressful time for so many. I hear from people in my office who have been trying to call the Service Canada call centre for weeks and are at the end of their finances. I have written to the Minister asking him to lengthen the hours. The financial stress is also causing a great deal of mental stress. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need help.
