| The kids have gone back to school so it must be fall. Let’s all be extra careful in those school zones. I wish all of the kids an educational, fun and safe school year. The summer seemed to go by very quickly. One minute, we were getting ready for the Stampede breakfast, the next thing we know its Labour Day. There has certainly been a lot going on this summer and not just community events for once (although still lots of those). Our continuing weak economy, the collapse of trade negotiations, the extraordinary food inflation, the continued rise in violent crime and more. That is what I’m hearing about from constituents in meetings and on the street. | What’s the Deal? The collapse of negotiations and the application of new tariffs on both sides of the border will have serious consequences for our economy and all of us deserve to know the facts. Conservatives are requesting that the Liberal government release the full details of the proposed deal from which they chose to walk away from last week. If there was a draft text of any agreement that both governments have seen, the Liberals must release it. The US administration has seen it. The Liberal government has seen it. Canadians deserve to see it because we all remain in the dark on the Liberal government’s demands in negotiations with the Trump administration and on the circumstances in which tariffs would have been lifted on many Canadians exports on which millions of jobs depend. Conservatives appreciate that the Liberals have been reluctant to share details in the midst of negotiations so as not to tip its hand to American negotiators, but those concerns no longer apply in this situation. There is too much noise and speculation out there to put this off. Release it today. We are asking for information that both the US administration and the Liberals would already know, to allow all Canadians to debate and discuss the way forward as a country. The Liberal government has, in the past, misinformed Canadians on this file. They have also used the negotiations to divide Canadians. The Prime Minister claimed that the debts Canadians incurred to build the Gordie Howe Bridge would be fully repaid before we begin sharing tolls with the United States. That was false. Carney told the public he was imposing counter-tariffs while quietly removing them. He claimed the US President had stopped talking about making Canada the 51st State, while knowing the President had talked about it in a phone call with him. The Prime Minister said he would have a deal by July 21st, 2025, and still does not have one. He said he would “negotiate a win”, “handle President Trump,” and get an even better deal than we had before. There have been no wins and US tariffs on Canada are far higher than when the Prime Minister took office. Carney made roughly a half-dozen major concessions before even getting to the bargaining table, promising it would get us wins. It did the opposite. Conservatives are here to help and fight for a good result for Canadians, but we expect Prime Minister Carney to be transparent and open with the Canadian people about what the President offered and/or threatened in these talks. |

| Liberal Economy is Failing Canadians After more than a decade of Liberal economic mismanagement, Canada is falling behind, investment is leaving, and workers and families are paying the price. A new study from the Fraser Institute states that Canada began to “truly squander this opportunity post-2014. Prior to 2014, Canada largely kept pace with, or in some cases exceeded the US, across multiple measures. ”The study also puts Liberal inflated bureaucracy into perspective: as the US grew its private sector share of employment, Canada went backwards as government employment outgrew the private sector.This failed economy is not just hurting Canadian consumers: it is driving away investment, weakening business confidence, and pushing companies to look south of the border instead of investing in Canada. Unfortunately for Canadians, under Mark Carney it’s more of the same Liberal economic incompetence: He promised the fastest growing economy in the G7, but Canada’s economy is projected to grow four times slower than the global average this year. He delivered the worst first year economic growth of any Prime Minister on record, and ranked 37 out of 38 OECD economies. Despite Canada having some of the best talent in the world, a stagnant economy and Liberal red tape blocking investment are driving what should be prized Canadian companies to sell to foreign buyers or leave Canada altogether. The Liberals were doing their best to sink our economy well before President Trump and the trade negotiations. Sadly, Canadians are feeling the consequences of their choices. |

| Zero Tax on Gas Until at Least Canada Day 2027 Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre and I wrote a letter to the Prime Minister asking the federal government to keep the gas tax paused until Canada Day 2027. You can read it on Facebook or X. I am proud to that say that after months of Conservative pressure, Liberal Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne has announced a delay of the government’s proposed gas tax hike until early next year. I know that any relief for working people is good news, but a modest extension of the Liberals’ current plan will not be enough for Canadians already squeezed by higher costs. After a decade of crushing Liberal policies and taxes, Canadians are paying for it with massive food inflation, the worst household debt in the G7, and personal insolvencies are at their worst since the Great Global Recession. That is why Conservatives continue to call for the government to remove all federal taxes on gas and diesel until at least Canada Day, 2027 to save Canadians up to 25 cents per litre.That includes the 7 cents per litre Clean Fuel Regulations, the GST and a permanent cancellation of the Industrial Carbon Tax so Canadians aren’t forced to pay more for food and fuel.Canadians need real relief that brings lower prices, not another Liberal half measure. Conservatives are proud of our role in securing this win, but we will never stop fighting for a more affordable Canada. |
